First-day expectations

Stage fright is a real thing! Like most, if not all of us, we get those first-day jitters. Sweaty palms, accelerating heartbeat, and butterflies, all-natural and expected…but as we ease into the thing or place that made us so nerve-racking, we begin to relax and shine.

Children tend to get those jitters much more than adults, but we help them no matter how scared they are.

First-day Activities

A typical first day at Acting for Kids focuses more on relaxation.

  • We start our class off with breathing exercises, introductory games, and icebreakers.
  • We do fun exercises and play introductory games so that we can relax our minds and bodies.
  • We get to know at least one thing about every participant, teachers including.

Before you know it, we are fearless and can't wait for the next class.

Being Comfortable

It is important that students dress comfortably so that they can freely participate in the exercises and collaborative group work. We do ask that our students wear

  • The appropriate color T-shirt for their class group;
  • and loose-fitting athleisure or sports pants in black.
